Holiday Homework

Holiday homework from northlondonosteopaths.co.uk

Just when you thought school is out, or has been for decades and homework is a forbidden word until September at the very least, Alan Nevies has some suggestions for you to do every day during the “silly season” (aka august). Below there is a list of 5 simple foot exercises that are beneficial for the feet and beyond. Some people notice that pain in the knees and hips decreases when they do these exercises regularly, and their feet certainly feel better as a result.

(NB this depends on the reason for the pain in the first place)

1. walk forward on your tip toes for 10 paces, then repeat going backwards. Do this 5 times
2. pick up a pen with your toes
3. roll your foot over a foot roller 10 times backwards and forwards. You can also do this over a tennis ball
4. in a sitting or standing position, rotate one ankle five times clockwise, then 5 times anti clockwise. Repeat on the other ankle. Do this 5 times
5. march on the spot for 2 minutes

It may be summer, but everyone wants a spring in their step and a smile on their face and Alan Nevies and his colleagues recommend trying these exercises. See if they help!

with very best wishes for a healthy, active yet restful holiday from Alan Nevies and his colleagues at northlondonosteopaths.co.uk
