FAQS
What happens on my first visit?
We take a full case history, including details relevant to the present problem and past medical information. We make a thorough structural examination of the spine and peripheral joints related to the problem. We check for joint flexibility, muscle tone and postural imbalances. Where necessary we work on soft tissues using massage, articulation (stretching) and manipulation of joints. We may recommend postural exercises to help maintain the benefits of treatment.
What will I need to do?
You may need to remove the top layer of clothing depending on the nature and position of the complaint. We will ask you to perform some movements so we can assess how well your joints, muscles and ligaments are working. Based on the evidence we will suggest a treatment plan to address the cause of the problems and thus treat the symptoms.
Do I need doctor’s referral?
We are happy to treat patients who are self referred, although many of our patients are referrals from GPs and consultants. Your insurance provider may require a referral from your GP or a consultant and it is advisable to check first.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on each case and will be discussed at the first visit. Patients are usually relieved quite quickly, although some chronic conditions require subsequent treatments. Sometimes further treatments are recommended as the best way to maintain the benefits achieved thus far.
Does my health insurance cover the cost?
Many do, including Bupa, Axa PPP, Aviva, Prudential, Norwich Union, WPA, Cigna, Allianz etc but check your policy for any excess or limitations or requirements for referral.
How much and how long is each appointment?
£65 We allow 30 minutes for each appointment.
